Your goals gamechanger

Whether you're starting 2025 in ninja mode, or you're gently stepping into the year with an open mind, I'll hazard a guess you've got at least one goal

Whether that's a big trip you want to plan, a promotion at work, or maybe you just want to slow down abit and have quieter weekends, there's a common mistake high performing women often make...

Life coach Tonya Malone explained this to us in her LWC Power Up Workshop this week...

Women are great at giving themselves 'to do' lists. But making something happen isn't just on us.

She asked everyone to draw a line down a sheet of paper that looked like this...

First, she instructed us to write all of the actions we would individually need to take to achieve our priority goal for the year.

cue all of us scribbling away, writing pages and pages under the 'me' column

Then, she said, "ok, now you need to pause and ask yourself - what about the people around me? What actions do they need to take to help make this happen? How about the broader context, such as the market conditions in your industry, for example? Right that list under the second column..."

Wait, what?!

It hadn't even occurred to me to consider this. I noticed that all of the women in the workshop weren't writing anything either.

She made the point - you can't control other people's actions, but it's ok to ask for help. Whether it's your boss, your partner, your family - they have a role to play, too.

Writing in that second column was insightful - there were factors and people I hadn't considered that were inextricable from the feasibility of the left column.

In other words, I haven't got a chance in achieving this without X context or Y person.

That realisation wasn't negative - it was liberating. The pressure lifted. Now the 'me' column wasn't the only piece of the puzzle.

This task will take 10 minutes of your time, but it's a game changer.

Have a great weekend,

NB xx
