Scenario: You’re at a business meal with a male colleague/client/supplier (you get the gist). The waiter brings the wine list and passes it to your companion.
Do you…
A) Allow him to browse & choose on your behalf? "Oh I don’t mind, whatever you think looks good!”
B) Ask to review & suggest some options to pair with the meal? “Let me introduce you to this region, I think you’ll like it.”
Vinomenal (the wine club for phenomenal women) exists to help more of us choose Option B. Founder Clem argues that understanding a wine list is a feminist issue.
With knowledge, comes confidence. And with confidence, comes power. Taking the lead on the wine sets the tone for the rest of the meeting.
It’s such a cool concept and I’d love to invite you to join me at their next event. The September evening is a celebration of entrepreneurship, so I'll be one of the interviewees alongside the author & chef Christina Soteriou and Fix8's founder, Freya Twigden, to name a few.
Expect a room full of friendly women, flowing wine, a light dinner of sharing plates and education from a qualified WSET Level 3 expert.
I've asked for a discount code for you and your girls and Clem kindly sorted for us -
My wine knowledge is basic (I’m 100% Option A) and if I do choose, it’s based on price; straight to the middle of the menu, medium-level expensive 🫣. So I’m definitely bringing my notebook!
